reflections

… the eyes are the mirror of the soul and reflect everything that seems to be hidden; and like a mirror, they also reflect the person looking into them … (Paulo Coelho, Manuscript Found in Accra)

Which makes reflections particularly interesting. This waterhole in the “Garden of Eden” in Kings Canyon was difficult to leave – what passes for spring in the desert in Australia makes this oasis a must stopping place. We started before sunrise, and this was still pretty early in the morning, but I had a pretty good reason for shooting down rather than up.

But where does the physical end and the reflection start?

… walking along the Clyde in Glasgow late autumn, this is a block of flats quite close to the Armadillo.

How do you interpret a reflection that is a good bit off a visual replica of the original? And what does it say about what really hides behind the exterior?
